If you're frustrated with Google's AI-powered search results giving you unreliable information, there's some good news. It turns out, if you include any curse words in your search, Google won't show the AI summary at the top of the page.

For example, if you search "How large is the student body of Yale University?" you'll get an AI-generated summary at the top. But if you search, "How large is the fucking student body at Yale University?" you'll get the usual list of blue links, no AI summary.

This isn't the first time people have figured out ways to disable Google's AI summaries. Other methods are more complicated, like changing the URL, but swearing at Google to just give you the regular links feels a lot more satisfying.

It makes you wonder: if people are actively looking for ways to turn off AI summaries, maybe they don't really want them in the first place? Sure, Google search results have never been perfect, but those AI summaries often look authoritative, even when they're full of incorrect information.

It's kind of like Siri getting worse since it started using ChatGPT. It used to just send you to the web when it didn't know the answer. Now, it tries to give you an answer, even if it's completely wrong. But we're all stuck with these AI tools, whether we like it or not. From Google Docs to social media, every tech company is adding AI features, but sometimes, a simple keyword search would be nice.
