OpenAI is rolling out Operator, its AI assistant that can handle tasks for users, to more countries. ChatGPT Pro subscribers in Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and the U.K. can now access it. Most regions where ChatGPT is available will get it, except for the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, and Iceland.

Operator first launched in the U.S. in January. It can book tickets, make restaurant reservations, file expense reports, and shop online. Right now, it's only available to those on the $200-per-month ChatGPT Pro plan and can only be used through a dedicated web page. Operator runs in a separate browser window, which users can take control of at any time. OpenAI says it plans to integrate it with all ChatGPT clients in the future.

Other companies are also working on AI assistants. Google has a similar project, but it's still on a waitlist. Anthropic offers an agent interface through an API, and Rabbit's AI assistant is only available to those using its device. The competition is growing, but for now, OpenAI's Operator is expanding faster than most.
