Google Cloud’s Automotive AI Agent arrives for Mercedes-Benz

Google Cloud has launched a new tool called Automotive AI Agent, designed to help car makers create smarter in-car assistants. Using Google's Gemini and Vertex AI, it allows cars to offer personalized, intuitive experiences that go beyond just basic voice commands. This tool can handle complex conversations, like asking about nearby Italian restaurants and following up with questions about reviews or popular dishes.



Mercedes-Benz is one of the first companies to use Automotive AI Agent. The new feature will be available in their MBUX Virtual Assistant in the upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLA. The updated assistant will pull fresh, accurate info from Google Maps, so drivers and passengers can quickly get details about places, traffic, and more, all through voice commands. It can also manage multi-step conversations and remember past questions, so you can pause and continue chatting without missing a beat.
